Cadiz, 8A: Group A8 Biotechnology UCA

Hello  everybody!
This is the second time I write in this blog .
I'm going to talk about some changes that our Winogradsky column has experimented.
I remember that the composition of the bottle was the following one:
Sand from Rio San Pedro´s beach
Water from a lagoon
Iron sulfate
Pieces of filter paper
Let´s see some of the changes in the bottle :
Firstly, we can see some areas of the bottle with a black colour. This part is the non-illuminated area, so we can say that in that area, some bacterias have grown. The reason of their growth is that the bacterias don´t need sunlight to grow, so we can say that those bacterias are not photosynthetic bacterias and we can say that they are anaerobic bacterias.

In this photo, we can see the change I have explained:

Secondly, we can see the growth of some microorganismes at the bottle´s surface. The reason could be that those microorganismes have used the sunlight and the oxygen of the air to grow, so we can say that those microorganismes are photosynthetic and aerobic microorganismes, althought it could be possible that those microorganismes would have used the carbon dioxide to grow.

In the following photo you can see this changed:

PD :I add that the colour of the bottle has not changed

This is all for now. See you soon. Bye Bye
